Similar to ‘AR cloud’ pursued by all majors (Facebook, Snapchat, Niantic, Google, Microsoft, and Apple), looking to augment physical spaces in the real world with digital data that is anchored and persistent (i.e., where geospatial coordinates are available), we provide space registration solutions for ships and marine structures with enclosed spaces surrounded by heavy metal structures (GPS deprived environments) and are slow-moving (traveling ships). Our solution provides the capability to remotely augment the physical world with location-specific digital data with engineering accuracy. ShipMR-Remote linked into the point cloud ship 3D geometry data embedded in our VR tool, works in any complex industrial location of interest: utilizing Mixed Reality SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) enables simultaneous tracking of the position of the virtual model and automatic registration and mapping of the 3D environment in MR headsets. With this capability, “Spatial Intelligence” can be automated in VR and AR applications. In particular, frontline workers can walk in the actual ship / offshore platform environment, while equipment, machinery, and spaces are identified in real-time AR point cloud registration and feature identification algorithms. Data related to each equipment, machinery, or space can be dynamically positioned to the exact physical location, and the user can retrieve and visualize relevant information in real-time.
